My reservoir tank is always empty. Even after a long hot ride. I've read that there should be fluid in there, at least when the engine is hot. I have popped the cap off the rad and saw fluid, so I know it's not too low... Should I drain and refil to start fresh (i bought the bike used a couple months ago), or should I just add some to top it off? what kind do I use?

"This has been a work in progress that we are very excited about," said Tracie Brandenburg, Pacific Raceways GM. "It's important that we build a strong team and that's why we have brought Lance Smail on board." Lance is a 25-year professional racer and Kent native.

I just got some bad news

Many people here know of my foot injury from a fall off a ladder at work. I have been working hard to recover and get back to work. Tried to do so but my foot caused me to much pain. Well I just got back from the Doc after getting CAT scan results. Not good. I will need surgury to fix up my foot. He offered two different scenerios. One to reshape some of the bones and remove some parts sticking out. The other would be to fuse the two affected bones together and elimanate the joint between them. A MRI is to scheduled to check all the soft tissue in the area. After that will be the appointment to go over everything and make a decision about which course of action to take.

Man I am bummed out super bad. No work. No money. More pain in the near future with an uncertain recovery. Does anybody have a time machine I could borrow for an afternoon??? So I can go back and tell me not to do what I did. :(

WTB: SM stock risers with cross brace and matching ignition key bracked for 11/8 Fat bars

Bought an SM set of forks and tripple clamps.

Need the stock risers with the crossover clamp and squared off looking matching ignition key bracket. Believe they didnt come stock until 2007.

Alternatively I could just get some aftermarket setup, but not sure whats available out there thats any good.

Yosh RS2 - Best way to separate?

Hey guys,

Feel a little funny asking this but I was wondering how to best separate the mid pipe from the header assuming I am correct to think that the RS2 is actually 3 prices. I had no problem removing the can but can't seem to split at the mid pipe, seem like a friction fit to me.

I am looking to remove it to get to my rear shock to change out the spring. Any suggestions are welcome.

Bike is in prices again and the weather is fantastic. I really have to stop tinkering and just ride.

I was in Everett Powersports the other day and saw this pic on their wall. I had never seen the handicapped sticker on any other bike except Debi's! Guess this dude was there first but it doesn't change your status. You will always be #1 in that department!! :D

Exhaust wrap

I know this can be a polarizing question with opinions ranging from it adds power and cures cancer to it will rust your headers and kick your dog.

When ever I look at the header pipe on the drz I cant help but think its real close to the engine and the radiators. So I'm thinking about adding some wrap to the header to keep the heat away from the bits I want cool. Any reasons not to other than it will hide my lovely MRD?

Went looking for off-road opportunities today. Found a new housing development area with roads that are only basically bulldozed with no gravel. Then I went north and found the railway tracks with construction for a third track. Only gravel so far but not yet finished. The tracks run parallel to the county road so everywhere there is a driveway there was a nice built up whoop that I could get a bit of air by running fast up and over to the other side. Risky for me but a lotta fun. Hell yeah! :yay: My hooligan act? I was trespassing! :D
Came home with the first mud and gunk on the bike. I love just hosing off the bike when I get home and parkin' it - no scrubbing or wiping required. :)

Perferred battery choices

With so many different types of batteries to choose from in a wide price range I wonder what the best would be. And why would it be the best. I feel one with a lot of cca's and a good long amp hour rating would be the best but will it fit correctly and will it need special outboard chargers. Things I am thinking of cuz need a new one soon and will be getting the best I can. Batteries dont last long in the Vegas heat.

What are some of your opinions on the subject of batteries???

-3x3 airbox mod w/ FCR 39 carb, BRP carb vent filter, properly jetted, accelerator pump properly timed.
-FMF Powerbomb w/Q4 muffler.
-DRZ E cams, TT manual cam chain tensioner.
-TT case guards, SSW/Epic stator cover plug, TT skid plate, Flatland Racing radiator guards.
-Renthal FB CR hi w/ProTaper adapters, Cycra ProBends w/triple clamp mount, Moose Racing clutch perch/lever, SSW/Motion Pro Quick Turn throttle, fan switch, 12v power.
-Factory Effects gripper seat cover w/ extra 1/2" foam. 2 small tears in the seat.
-IMS 3.2 gal tank.
-RMZ pegs (wider than stock).
-Side/rear racks (side racks only used on longer trips).
-Edge taillight and low profile rear turn signals.
-New headset bearings and seals.
-New chain guide.

Kickstand switch bypassed, clutch switch bypassed, counter sprocket locktite mod, free power mod.
Passenger pegs and helmet lock have been removed.
Bike is an S model that has been converted to an E model. You'll never lose your plate with this one!

I'm taking it in next week (5/16) to have an E base gasket (higher compression), new rings and head work done.
Box of new parts: New shock and swing arm bearing set, new wheel bearings, seals and spacers, new clutch cover gasket, new cam chain, new accelerator pump diaphragm, extra jets and needles. I had planned on doing all the bearings, and replacing the cam chain, through out the summer.
Box of stock parts: extra front fender, side plastic and rear fender, forks, S exhaust and cams... etc.

Oil changed every 1000 miles. As you can tell I've done lots of work modifying and maintaining this bike. Bike has not been a garage queen and has been dropped but never wrecked. Has been used as a dirt bike/adv bike and has scratches to prove it. The DRZ is a dependable bike and I'd take this one anywhere.
This DRZ is a true dual sport machine, totally set up for harder DS rides, for those who prefer a lighter, more dirt oriented ADV bike.

Selling to buy another bike, not in any rush, this bike still does it for me.

Pics do not reflect new side plastic, rear fender, chain guide or new tires.
